A cheats guide to achieving growth.
1. Adopt a growth mindset. Growth takes effort… doing something different. If you aren’t prepared to do that, don’t even start.
2. Figure out where the easiest growth is. In very simplistic terms, growth comes from either new customers, or selling more to the customers you already have. Within each of these two options are a myriad of sub-options and mechanisms to achieve growth.
2a. Growth from current customers can come in three ways – you can sell additional products to your customers, you can take more share of their spend, or you can increase their consumption rate of your product.
2b. Growth from new customers. New leads, conversion rates, new geographies, new applications for your products into different markets… there are many options.
3. Get specialist advice to help you build and execute a plan. This probably seems like shameless self-promotion, but whether me, or someone else – leverage the knowledge and experience of an expert. You don’t know what you don’t know… but they do.
4. Execute, execute, execute. Relentless effort pays off. Make sure you do one thing every day that will help your business grow. You’ll be surprised how many afternoons you stop and think to realise you haven’t taken any growth actions that day…
